Privacy policy
Kidsterr is a marketplace for things kids outgrow, so some of what you give us is meant to be seen by the person on the other side of a sale. This page says which parts those are, who else handles your data, and what happens to the rest.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and password — the password is stored hashed by our authentication provider and is never readable by us. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address they share with us.
Your profile and contact details. A display name, handle, optional city and profile photo. An optional phone number, kept private to you and our support team. The delivery addresses you save, and the name and phone number on them.
What you put on Kidsterr. Listing photos and text, messages and the photos you attach to them, offers, reviews, saved searches, favorites, reports and blocks, and the details of a local pickup you arrange.
Orders and payouts. What you bought or sold, the amounts, delivery and tracking details, and payout status. Payment cards, bank details and seller identity checks are handled by Stripe (below); we keep only the outcome and the last four digits of a payout account.
Location, with your permission. When you turn on distance filtering, your device’s location is used to sort and filter listings while you browse; it is not saved. When you publish a listing for local pickup, its location is saved rounded to about a kilometre, so buyers can see roughly how far away it is — never an exact address.
Camera and photos, with your permission. Used only to take or attach photos to a listing, a message or your profile.
Notifications, with your permission. A device push token, your platform (iOS or Android) and time zone, so alerts arrive and quiet hours work.
What we generate. A user ID, your rating and sales counts, how many people viewed your listings, and a log of AI listing-draft requests (not the photos) used to limit how often the feature can be used.
We do not use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell personal data.
What other people see
Your display name, handle, city, profile photo, rating, review count, sold count and typical response time appear on your public seller page. Your listings — including their photos and, for pickup listings, a location rounded to about a kilometre — and the reviews you write are public. A message is visible to the person you sent it to. When you buy something, the seller sees the delivery address and recipient name for that order. Your email address, phone number and order history are not shown to other users.
Who else handles it
- Supabase hosts the database, authentication and image storage, in the United States.
- Stripe processes payments and seller payouts. Card details, bank details and the identity checks Stripe requires of sellers go to Stripe directly and are never stored on our servers. The delivery address of an order is attached to its payment record at Stripe.
- Anthropic provides the AI that can draft a listing from your photos. Only if you allow it when you list an item, the listing photos are sent to Anthropic to suggest a category, title and details. Anthropic does not use them to train its models. You can always write a listing yourself.
- Apple and Google, if you choose to sign in with them, and to deliver Apple Pay or Google Pay payments.
- Expo delivers push notifications to the mobile app: the title and body of a notification — a new message, an offer, a price-drop alert, a sale or payout event — pass through Expo’s push service to reach your device. Expo also delivers app updates.
- Our support team can read listings, orders, reports, disputes and contact details through an internal console, to help you, resolve disputes and enforce the rules. Every action there is logged.
- Law enforcement, where we are legally compelled.
Nobody else. Data is encrypted in transit.
How long we keep it, and deleting your account
For as long as your account exists. Delete it in the app under Profile → Account settings → Delete account. If you have never bought or sold, everything about you is deleted. If you have, your profile, listings, photos, messages you sent, phone number, addresses, saved searches, favorites, notifications and devices are deleted, and the records of completed transactions — the orders, amounts and reviews tied to them — are kept without your name, where tax and anti-fraud rules require. Deletion is refused while an order or dispute is still open, so nobody’s money is left in limbo. To request deletion without the app, write to privacy@kidster.app and we will do it within 30 days.
Your choices
Turn location off in your system settings — the app keeps working, distance filtering stops. Decline the AI draft and write listings yourself. Turn any notification category off in Settings. Block or report any user. Ask us for a copy of your data at privacy@kidster.app, and we will send it within 30 days.
Children
Kidsterr is a place for parents and other adults to buy and sell children’s things. It is not directed at children and is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to privacy@kidster.app and we will delete it.
Changes
We will post any change on this page and move the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we collect, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
